So long as you stick to Ofcom's strict rules, you can install a signal solution to boost as many networks as required.
In previous blogs we’ve talked about how a signal solution works and about building materials and which ones block signal. This time we want to talk about the technicalities, and legalities, of boosting multiple mobile phone networks.
Let’s start with a bit about network providers.
There are four major UK network providers: Vodafone, Three, O2 and EE. There are many more which piggyback on their signals (around 30 piggybacking companies across the UK). Officially, they’re known as Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) … nice and easy to remember! The good news here is that you can boost these MVNO signals by simply boosting the parent network … so for Sky Mobile you’d boost O2 and for BT Mobile it would be EE. Here’s a full list of all UK MVNOs if you want to see who the parent network is for your specific MVNO.
Hold on, what was the question? Oh yes, can I boost all networks or just one network?
The simple answer is 'yes' ... you can boost as many networks as you want! Just so long as you stick within Ofcom's very strict rules on the use of mobile signal repeaters.
Let’s look at some examples …
Let’s say you live in a rural area, in a 4 bed brick property, you have good signal outside and terrible signal inside. You are on Vodafone and your partner is on EE. Do we have a signal solution that can boost both of these networks? Yes we do!
Here’s another example: The landlord of a city pub contacts us as they have terrible signal throughout the building, customers are complaining and the staff can’t get the point of sale devices to work for payments. Can we boost all 4 networks? Yes we can!
You get the picture.
What about the legalities of boosting multiple networks?
That’s a good question, and one we’re asked about frequently. In 2018, new laws were introduced to control the use of mobile signal repeaters in the UK. As with most laws, there’s plenty of detail to consider, but there’s one key requirement that’s relevant here.
Essentially, each mobile signal booster can only boost a single network. So if you want to boost Vodafone and O2 in your office, you’ll need a signal solution that includes a booster for Vodafone as well as a booster for O2. Need to boost EE as well? No problem, but you’ll need an additional booster configured just for that network.
So whilst there are plenty of different boosters available that can boost all 4 networks at once, it’s currently illegal to do so in the UK. To remain within the rules, and to avoid a visit from Ofcom, you’ll need to install a fully compliant solution.
The long and short of it is this…
We can boost 1 network, 2 networks, 3 networks or ALL 4!
Each of our signal solutions will be designed for your specific requirements.
We will install a booster that will pull the signal from outside your building and distribute it throughout. Ensuring you have great coverage in the areas that you need it.
Our signal solutions are:
- 100% legal to use, fully compliant with Ofcom licensing laws
- Unconditionally network safe
- Consistent in providing high quality signal in areas and buildings where coverage is poor or non-existent
- Compatible with every mobile network
And we’re able to install our mobile repeaters in any sort of building, from hospitals and hotels to office blocks and supermarkets.
The last couple of years have taught us many things, not least that pyjamas can be worn all day and face masks are annoying, but primarily we have learnt that we all NEED to feel connected.
